Kuwait Indemnity Calculator — End of Service Benefits

In Kuwait, your end-of-service payment is called indemnity. This calculator applies Labour Law No. 6 of 2010 (Articles 51–53) exactly: it uses your total wage, divides by 26, applies the 18-month cap, and adjusts for resignation — the details most other calculators get wrong.

How indemnity is calculated in Kuwait

For employees paid monthly, Article 51 gives:

Worked example

Sara's last total wage is KWD 800. She completes 8 years and her contract ends.
Daily wage = 800 ÷ 26 = KWD 30.77
First 5 years: 15 × 5 = 75 days · Next 3 years: 30 × 3 = 90 days · Total 165 days
Indemnity = 165 × 30.77 = KWD 5,077 (cap = 18 × 800 = KWD 14,400 — not reached)
If Sara had resigned instead, at 8 years she would receive ⅔ = KWD 3,385.

Frequently asked questions

How is indemnity calculated in Kuwait?

For monthly-paid employees: 15 days of wage for each of the first 5 years, and one month of wage for each year after that. The daily wage is your monthly wage divided by 26. The total is capped at 18 months of wage (Article 51, Labour Law 6/2010).

Which salary is used — basic or total?

Kuwait uses your last total wage, including regular allowances (Article 55) — not basic salary alone. This is different from the UAE and Qatar, where only basic salary counts.

I resigned. How much indemnity do I get in Kuwait?

If you resign: nothing below 3 years of service, half from 3 to 5 years, two-thirds from 5 to 10 years, and the full indemnity after 10 years. If your employer terminates you or your contract ends, you receive the full amount.

What is the maximum indemnity in Kuwait?

The indemnity for monthly-paid employees cannot exceed 18 months of wage. Some websites wrongly state the cap as two years' salary — the legal cap is 18 months.

Do women employees have different resignation rules in Kuwait?

Yes. A woman who ends her contract because of marriage within the conditions of Article 53 can receive her full indemnity even in resignation cases where the standard fractions would otherwise apply. Check your situation with the Public Authority for Manpower.
