Qatar Gratuity Calculator — End of Service Benefits

Enter your basic salary and how long you have worked. This calculator uses the rule in Article 54 of Qatar Labour Law (Law No. 14 of 2004): at least 21 days of basic salary for every year of service — with no tiers, no cap, and no reduction if you resigned.

⚠️ Under Article 54, gratuity becomes a legal entitlement after 1 full year of service. The figure below is what the same formula gives for your service so far — many employers pay it pro-rata, but below one year it is their choice, not a right.

How gratuity is calculated in Qatar

Article 54 says an employee who completes at least one year of service is entitled to an end-of-service gratuity of at least three weeks' basic wage for each year of service. The employer and employee may agree on more, but never less. In practice, almost every company applies it exactly like this:

Worked example

Ahmed's basic salary is QAR 6,000 and he completes 6 years.
Daily basic = 6,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 200
Per year = 200 × 21 = QAR 4,200
Total gratuity = 4,200 × 6 = QAR 25,200

Who is eligible?

You need at least one full year of service with the same employer. The gratuity is based on your last drawn basic salary. If you are dismissed for gross misconduct under Article 61, the employer may withhold gratuity — this is the main exception. Your gratuity forms part of your final settlement together with your last salary, leave encashment and any notice pay.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum service period to get gratuity in Qatar?

Under Article 54 of Qatar Labour Law 14/2004, you become entitled to end of service gratuity after completing at least one full year of service. Below one year, payment is at the employer's discretion.

I resigned from my job in Qatar. Do I still get full gratuity?

Yes. Qatar does not reduce gratuity when you resign. After one year of service you receive the full amount — unlike Saudi Arabia or Kuwait, where resignation fractions apply.

Are allowances included in Qatar gratuity calculation?

No. Gratuity in Qatar is calculated on your basic salary only — housing, transport and other allowances are not counted. The daily rate is your monthly basic salary divided by 30.

When must my employer pay my gratuity in Qatar?

Gratuity is part of your final settlement and should be paid at the end of your service, normally with or before your last salary payment. If your employer refuses, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Labour (ADLSA).

Is gratuity taxed in Qatar?

No. There is no personal income tax in Qatar, so your end of service gratuity is paid in full without tax deductions.
